“Urgently recommit” to rejoining Horizon Europe, UKTBC tells Government

This week, the UK Trade and Business Commission sent a letter to the Government urging them to restart negotiations for the UK to rejoin the EU’s Horizon Europe research programme without delay.

The announcement that the UK could rejoin the EU’s €95.5bn research funding scheme was welcomed by scientists throughout the UK and the EU. Reports from the past few years have told stories of lost funding, projects abandoned and academics leaving the UK as a result of exclusion from the programme.

Though many expected the Government to immediately proceed in getting the UK back into Horizon Europe, the Prime Minister then balked at rejoining, with reports claiming he was “sceptical” about the benefits of the programme.

Below is the full text of the UKTBC’s letter to the Prime Minister.
