NZ trade agreement to be formally laid tomorrow

Responding to news that the UK’s trade deal with New Zealand will be formally laid in Parliament on 27th October, MP for Brighton Pavilion and UK Trade and Business Commissioner Caroline Lucas said,

“In an attempt to distract from their disastrous handling of the economy, the Government is boasting about a trade deal which will dramatically increase transport emissions, and which their own analysis shows could fail their own tests by actually shrinking UK GDP.

“The UK economy has three urgent needs, none of which this deal satisfies: the removal of Brexit trade barriers with our EU partners, strong climate commitments, and a new government willing to deliver on both.”
