New polling: Strong majority in NI support Windsor Framework

Queens University Belfast has published new polling, which indicates a strong majority of voters in Northern Ireland believe:

  • The Windsor Framework will improve Northern Ireland’s economy (69%)

  • It reflects a genuine effort on the part of the UK Government and the European Commission to address the concerns around the Northern Ireland Protocol (65%)

  • It means the NI Executive should be restablished (66%)

In response, Hilary Benn MP, Co-Convenor of the UK Trade and Business Commission, said:

“This poll shows that voters and businesses alike recognise that working constructively alongside the EU to provide certainty and stability is the best way to ensure the future prosperity of Northern Ireland.

“As we approach the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, I hope all parties will now recognise the importance of restoring power sharing - not only to fulfil the democratic responsibility that MLAs have but also to secure the significant opportunities from Northern Ireland’s access to the markets of both Great Britain and the EU.”
