Brexit: Ministers must find workable solution or risk leaving country poorer

Responding to the news that the UK’s Brexit losses are more than 178 times bigger than trade deal gains, Hilary Benn MP, Chair of the UK Trade and Business Commission, said

“These statistics confirm what we’ve been hearing from trade experts and businesses, namely that the deal struck with the EU has imposed costs, red tape and pointless form filling on UK firms exporting to the EU while the trade deals signed by the Government fall far short of the mark.

“Ministers must wake up and acknowledge these worrying figures, and instead of making trade with the EU more challenging, they must commit to finding a workable solution that doesn’t leave our country poorer for years to come.”
